Andy heads up BakerHicks’ civil and structural team. He has extensive experience of providing civil and structural engineering consultancy services in a variety of sectors, including education, health, aviation, commercial and public sector offices, retail, custodial, defence, residential, light-industrial and leisure. Projects include new build construction, alterations, refurbishments and extensions to existing buildings, as well as associated civil engineering infrastructure.
He has been a Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) since 2004 and is actively involved in mentoring graduate engineers aspiring to become Chartered with either the IStructE or the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), as well as regularly promoting engineering as a career option to young people. Andy has previously participated in lectures and project workshops as a visiting tutor at the University of Strathclyde. He is a qualified Certifier of Design (Building Structures) with the Structural Engineers Register (SER).
Andy is respected within the property and construction industry having been a presenter and panellist at Scotland Build’s Meet the Engineers and the RIBA Journal’s BIM Innovation Seminar; and a contributor to the ICE Talks series.
