Formed in 1977, Mill United FC was established to give local youngsters a sense of belonging and community spirit, fostered through team sport. Having enjoyed successes in regional, league and cup competitions, both in Scotland and abroad, the club is proud to be recognised as a major football institution by scouts nationwide.
BakerHicks’ kit sponsorship has helped to prepare the team ahead of the upcoming Lanarkshire Football Development Association’s Fun Fours league. Running until November, the Saturday league gives players a platform to develop their skills in an organised structure. This backing encourages the team to focus on their game and be fully prepared as they embark on their player pathway.
Associate Engineer, David Coulter, who coaches the team and whose son Leo plays in the team, says:
As a club, Mill United bring a great benefit to the community, offering young footballers a space to develop their skills and, in some cases, gain a foundation for a successful career in football. As such, when Leo showed an interest in joining a local team, Mill United was my obvious first choice. My involvement has grown from supporting on the sidelines to becoming a fully-fledged member of the club’s support staff, complete with SFA coaching badges.
Coaching has taken me a bit out of my comfort zone but being pitch side is great. I really enjoy seeing the kids having fun, improving their skills, and bonding as a team. I also have the added benefit of being directly involved in Leo’s development. This is the first football team the kids have been a part of so to receive BakerHicks’ backing this early in their journey is brilliant, although Leo keeps calling the team ‘BakerHicks FC!'
Good luck to David and the team this season!
