  • Certainty in design, delivery and accuracy through intelligent use of BIM technology
  • Redefining asset standards and enhancing quality of data

As part of a wider £1.3bn Transformation Programme (MAN-TP) to position Manchester Airport as the ‘Northern Gateway’, the Terminal 2 Renovation (T2R) project leveraged Business Information Modelling (BIM) to deliver a modern transport hub.

Following the successful completion of the Terminal 2 extension in 2020, phase two focused on upgrading the original building. This included the addition of a second security hall and departure lounge, refurbishment of the check-in centre, reconfiguration of the airfield and the construction of a new Pier (Pier 2). Manchester Airport Group appointed BakerHicks as BIM lead, working closely from RIBA Stages 4 to 6 to deliver across multiple areas of both the T2R and Pier 2, transforming the passenger experience.

Through rigorous Stage 4 design reviews, the team identified critical issues and implemented corrective measures. Revizto was used to enhance collaboration and ensure accurate tracking of As-built production. As a result, the client now benefits from a reliable, data rich model for future use, supported by a custom Power BI dashboard that redefines asset data management, tracking and reporting.
