UK Contractors declare: BakerHicks’ parent company, Morgan Sindall Group, commit to tackling climate change
BakerHicks’ parent company, Morgan Sindall Group, along with seven other major construction companies, have declared their support for the UK Contractors Declare initiative.
The initiative unites the construction industry, recognising its responsibility to help mitigate the climate and biodiversity emergencies. It aims to strengthen working practices to ensure that we’re designing and constructing buildings, cities and infrastructure assets that have a more positive impact on the world around them.
As a founding signatory, Morgan Sindall Group have committed to specific action aimed at achieving net-zero carbon emissions in line with recognised standards. Alongside acting as advocates for faster change in the construction industry, signatory companies will also share knowledge and research to help mitigate climate and biodiversity emergencies.
In a statement issued, the founding companies said:
“We are hoping that strong support for the Contractors Declare statement will energise our sector to work with our clients, designers and supply chains to take action.”
Other firms are now being encouraged to sign up to the initiative to drive a united front against climate change in the industry. BakerHicks are proud to be a Morgan Sindall Company and will be doing their part to make positive change happen.
