A project manager makes it their business to understand the brief, inside out. They’re often experienced in a technical discipline which means they can talk the language of the design team whilst managing all the relevant project stakeholders. As the client’s point of contact, they’re also strong moderators, who like to get things done. At BakerHicks, our project managers regularly work across the disciplines, in daily contact with colleagues across the company to keep things progressing.
I count myself being a people person so having that daily contact with the client is what I enjoy above all else. I love the fact that I’m continually liaising with the client and stakeholders and through this, really getting underneath what it is they want and need from a project. It’s then up to me to feed this back to the design team to make sure we provide the best possible solutions – if I get it right, they get it right and that is so rewarding.
Understanding the project and exploring the wider business case is our top priority. Whether the focus is on design-to-cost or time-to-market, we leverage our multi-disciplinary, local expertise with significant experience gained from a delivering a number of industry-first projects.
