New Managing Director for Nuclear and Defence at BakerHicks
BakerHicks, the specialist design and engineering business, has appointed John Griffin to the newly-created role of managing director for Nuclear and Defence. John has spent the last 15 years delivering a range of high-profile multi-disciplinary projects within the Nuclear industry.
John is tasked with further expanding and diversifying the company’s Nuclear and Defence capabilities, client base and projects. He was formerly Operations Director for the New Nuclear Build Programme at Jacobs, where he similarly created and led the firm’s nuclear build business. John’s career started with the Design Group Partnership more than 30 years ago. He joined Jacobs in 2006 after a successful spell with NNC and later AMEC NNC, where he successfully developed a major client base in Defence.
Commenting on his appointment, John said:
“The way the BakerHicks Nuclear and Defence team is structured means we can be flexible and agile in making changes where required, and this sees our actions feed through quickly into tangible results.
“My first task will be to assess our current strengths, and match those strengths to the needs of our clients. For example, some of the specialist CAD and configuration management capabilities, and our expertise in BIM to help reduce running costs at Government-owned sites, are skills that readily apply to both the Nuclear and Defence industries, and can immediately be offered to existing and potential clients.”
Martin Lubieniecki, managing director, added:
“BakerHicks’ Nuclear and Defence team has a long and successful track record that is widely respected in the industry. We are trusted to safely deliver projects in highly secure, regulated environments through a genuinely integrated service. John’s appointment reflects our commitment to a sector that continues to provide exciting opportunities for growth, and which can benefit from a truly multi-disciplinary approach.”
