BakerHicks supports ISPE Awards Conference and Dinner
As one of the event sponsors, delegates from BakerHicks, the multidisciplinary design and engineering company, attended and exhibited at the ISPE (International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering) Awards Conference and Dinner. An annual event, the conference and awards celebrate the past year as well as looking ahead to what is coming up within the pharmaceutical industry.
Conference attendees were treated to a packed day of seminars led by industry experts covering key topics within the conference theme of ‘new dimensions in pharmaceuticals’. The conference was opened by ISPE UK Central Region Chairman, Shaun Roberts; followed by the Key Note Introduction given by Mike Murray, Head of Quality and Environmental Standards at the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI).
BakerHicks were one of 45 exhibiting companies at the event, its Virtual and Augmented Reality experts were on hand to showcase the company’s skills. BakerHicks has made a significant investment in AR headsets, using Microsoft Hollow Lens technology to allow clients to see their facilities in holographic form prior to it being built. Delegates were given a unique opportunity to experience this technology and how it can help mould the design and manage a facility’s assets, with headsets available for them try on the BakerHicks stand.
Alisder Brown, Senior BIM Coordinator at BakerHicks, says:
“Using VR and AR offers both the client and design team huge advantages. Having the ability to virtually walk around the space allows for earlier, more informed decisions to be made, as well as giving the end user the opportunity to ‘test run’ their work environment, highlighting any design issues that may otherwise go unnoticed.
“We see a huge amount of potential within VR and AR to provide asset training and simulations for any hazardous, high value or high skill requirement equipment within the project, which will be of particular value to pharmaceutical companies.”
The event was rounded off with the Awards Dinner in the evening, which celebrated the achievements of professionals working in the pharmaceutical industry over the past year. BakerHicks were one of 56 companies represented at the dinner. Mark Dickson, Managing Director for Process and Industry at BakerHicks says:
“We’re proud to support the society which does fantastic work within the industry, supporting the development of ever improving process solutions and facilities. Events such as this provide a fantastic opportunity to not only celebrate the success stories but to discuss the future of the industry and shape the direction we take it in.”
The Conference and Awards Dinner were held on 30th November 2017 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon.
